Betsy Briney
Our May Inspirational Person of the Month is Betsy Briney, Occupational Therapist.  Betsy does an excellent job under normal circumstances, but on top of remote learning, she has taken on Jon's caseload through these crazy times.  Betsy seems to be performing above and beyond during this pandemic.  She responds quickly to questions about new EI referrals, etc.  Betsy is definitely deserving of inspirational person of the month.  Congratulations, Betsy!!

SASED Advertisement for Bids

TITLE: 1420 8th Street - Renovations Sangamon Area Special Education District Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Work shall include interior renovations to include selective demolition, new partition walls, acoustical tile ceilings, flooring, electrical and HVAC rework. There will also be some concrete excavation and selective demolition of an existing bank drive thru to create an enclosed interior space. This will include concrete footings and flatwork, interior finish work, metal stud walls, sheathing and exterior siding as well as installation of some windows and doors. This project will be bid under one Prime contract. All bids shall be delivered in sealed envelopes, furnished by the Contractor, to the Office of the Director located at 2500 Taylor Avenue, Springfield, Illinois 62703 on or before 2:00 P.M., prevailing time, Thursday, August 6, 2020. No bids will be accepted after that time and date. Immediately after the closing time for receiving bids, they will be publicly opened and read aloud in the Board Room. A Pre-Bid Meeting will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. prevailing time located at 1420 8th Street, Springfield, Illinois 62704 . All parties shall meet under the existing bank drive thru.

SASED Remote Learning Day Plan

Section 5.10 of the School Code states that when a Gubernatorial Disaster has been proclaimed or when any other exigent circumstance exists, as deemed by the State Superintendent, the State Superintendent may declare a requirement to use Remote Learning Days for a district, multiple districts, a region, or the entire State. During Remote Learning Days, schools must conduct instruction remotely. Once declared, Remote Learning Days will be implemented in any of grades pre-kindergarten through 12 as days of attendance, and shall be deemed pupil attendance days for calculation of the length of a school term under Section 10-19 of the School Code.

Virtual IEP Meetings

If you have a child with special needs and have an upcoming meeting that is scheduled during the school closure period, these will be held via the Zoom application (video/audio teleconferencing software)
